The nation’s meteorological services warned for weeks about the potential dangers of Hurricane Ida as it approached the East Coast and despite the preparation, its ravages have been very strong. During the last few days, we have seen floods in several cities on the east coast, millions of dollars in property damage, and unfortunately, several people dead.

For now, at least 30 deaths have been recorded in New York City, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Among the dead was a boy of just two years old. The body of the infant was found along with that of a 50-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman, also dead, inside his residence in Queens, New York.

The house was flooded and the cause of death for the three was drowning. The news shocked the entire community that continues to try to overcome the difficulties that Hurricane Ida has left in its wake.

This 2-year-old boy is the youngest victim that has been found in the last few days.

Another 9 people were found “unconscious and unresponsive” in New York City, as reported by NYPD authorities.

Police, firefighters, and volunteers are making efforts to place affected families in temporary shelters while the situation is brought under control.

The effects of the floods are still being seen and normal services have not been able to resume, however, experts say that the worst part has already happened, so they are hopeful that a full evaluation can be made in the next few days. of the damage caused by the hurricane.

People from all over the country have been attentive to events on the East Coast and have started various donation drives to help those most in need and families who lost everything.

Hopefully, people will be able to get back on their feet rather sooner than later and this disaster won’t continue to take more lives.
