Who doesn’t love Super Bowl Sunday? It is a day to relax, either you are alone, with friends or family. It is an event that has something for everybody, you can see the game or the commercials, or just be there for the party, but something that everybody enjoys is the halftime show.

Being the artist that performs in the halftime show is a big deal, it is announced over a year before the event, and everybody waits to see how they are going to manage to surpass the previous show. A lot of these have become iconic in music history, so today we are going to talk about 10 of the best Super Bowl halftime shows.

10. Beyoncè and Destiny’s Child – 2013

The very awaited reunion of Destiny’s Child took place in the 2013 halftime. Beyoncè appeared from the smoke wearing a characteristic black outfit to then perform some of her greatest hits, such as Crazy in Love and Love on Top, but what people loved the most was the moment when Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland joined her to sing their song as previous girl band Bootylicious.

9. Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz, and Missy Elliot – 2015

Katy Perry’s show became really famous because of all the outfits she wore, along with the fun scenarios she used. Sharks, beach balls, a flaming mechanical tiger, and more were part of this remarkable show where she was joined by Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliot. This was a big moment in her career and people still talk about how she rocked all of the clothes changes.

8. U2 – 2002

U2’s performance was shortly after the 9/11 tragedy, and they decided to pay tribute to the victims while they performed their classic song Where The Streets Have No Name. It was a very emotional show that everybody appreciated and became one of the best halftimes in history, especially because of Bono’s performance of Beautiful Day.

7. Lady Gaga – 2017

There are a lot of reasons why this performance was one of the best of all times. First of all, Lady Gaga broke the record for having the most expensive show yet, but it was worth it to enjoy how she rocked it all. Her look was a typical Gaga look from Versace that made her look like a star while she was falling from the roof to the center of the stage. Her performance was all about America, she showed the flag and sang God Bless America to represent freedom.

6. Diana Ross – 1996

Diana Ross was a beloved singer since her time in The Supremes, but her halftime show changed people’s perspective about her. She left thousands of mouths open because of her 4 outfit changes in only 12 minutes, all of them incredibly fabulous. On the other hand, she couldn’t leave by just walking from the stage, but she left in a helicopter while singing “Take Me Higher”.

5. Madonna, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A and CeeLo Green – 2012

Madonna’s Cleopatra outfit became part of her iconic looks and performances the minute she appeared on the stage singing Vogue. The Queen of Pop left her life during the 15 minutes that the show lasted, but even though she was joined by other incredible stars like CeeLo Green who sang Like A Virgin, no one could turn the lights from Madonna.

4. Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Bad Bunny and J Balvin – 2020

This was one of the most-watched halftime shows of all time and was a big moment in Latin music history. Both divas showed up with matching gold and silver outfits that shined while they were showing their hips skills. To top the performance, the two reggaeton singers Bad Bunny and J Balvin made their appearances shocking the whole world.

3. Aerosmith con ‘Nsync, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige and Nelly – 2001

2001 was an unforgettable show since it was a mix with all 90s and early 2YK celebrities. No one could believe that Aerosmith, a rock band, could have been such an incredible duo with the boy band Nsync, but they were. On top of that, Britney Spears was a complete surprise, who may be overshadowed by the rest of the stars.

2. Prince – 2007

This show was so great that it is often called the best concert of Prince’s career. The rain didn’t stop him from doing a show that everybody enjoyed, he did a We Will Rock You cover to open and closed with his number one hit Purple Rain during a literal storm. Of course, he performed with his awesome purple guitar, while wearing a blue suit with a bright orange shirt.

Even though you were a baby or even weren’t born in 1993, you have heard about this show. Michael Jackson did not disappoint his fan base after he performed a medley of a few of his best singles, such as Billie Jean, Black or White and We Are the World, along with incredible dances, fireworks, and his now-iconic suit.
